Commercial Photography and Video Pricing
Every commercial assignment is different, so there isn’t a single price that suits every project.
Some assignments take an hour on site. Others involve multiple locations, extensive planning, specialised equipment, assistants, or several days of editing and post-production. Because of this, every project is individually estimated.
The information below explains how commercial photography and video projects are typically priced and provides a realistic guide to the level of investment involved.
Pricing Guide
Commercial photography assignments generally start from $600 + GST, plus any applicable production expenses.
Commercial video assignments generally start from $1,200 + GST, plus any applicable production expenses.
Many commercial photography projects are estimated in excess of $2,800 + GST.
These figures are intended as a guide. Once I understand your requirements, I’ll prepare a detailed estimate based on the agreed brief and anticipated scope of the assignment.
How Projects Are Estimated
Every assignment is different, but the main factors that influence the cost include:
- Time required on location
- Planning and preparation
- Number of locations
- Editing, retouching and post-production
- Travel and production expenses
- Assistants or specialised equipment
- Intended use of the finished images or video
Rather than offering fixed packages, every estimate is prepared specifically for the project. This provides a more accurate cost and ensures you’re paying only for the work required.
Photography and Video
I offer commercial photography, commercial video, or a combination of both.
Producing photography and video together can often be more efficient than engaging separate suppliers while maintaining a consistent visual style across your marketing material.
Video production generally requires additional planning, filming, sound recording, editing and post-production, which is why it is estimated separately from photography.
Image Usage
Commercial photography is generally licensed according to the intended use of the images.
Commercial video is typically supplied with the usage rights required for the agreed project.
Any licensing arrangements will always be discussed before work begins, so there are no surprises.
Planning a Project?
Whether you need commercial photography, commercial video, or both, I’d be pleased to prepare a detailed estimate tailored to your requirements.
Helpful information includes:
- Whether you require photography, video or both
- A brief description of the project
- Where the work will take place
- The number of locations or people involved
- Your preferred timing
- How the finished material will be used
- Any important deadlines
If you don’t yet have all the details, that’s perfectly fine. An initial discussion is often the best place to start.
Whether you already have a detailed brief or are still exploring the best approach, I’m happy to help develop a solution that meets your objectives.
